The Giclée Method Of Art Reproduction

Giclée pronounced ("zhee-clay") is a French word meaning "squirt of ink" on canvas. The fine art of printing has become very precise with the advent of the giclée printing process. For brilliant, exquisite color and razor sharp detail, it is unsurpassed.

All giclées are custom made and created from the artist's original artwork. An extremely high resolution digital image of the artwork is made, then loaded into specially enhanced printers that output the digital image onto canvas. The 8-color printing process uses the most archival, lightfast pigments available. Since the digital image includes every subtlety and nuance of the original - including the smallest details of light and shadow such as textures of the paint and canvas or paper - the fine art giclée is often indistinguishable from the original work of art. A protective coating is then applied to the finished print to seal and protect the artwork. Like any fine artwork, giclées should be protected from moisture, direct sunlight and fingerprints.
