“Ponies at Lookout” 8″x8″
A view from the straits behind Cape Lookout.
My friend, Emily, is an excellent photographer, not to mention.. writer, collaborator, PR/marketing extraordinaire … and much more! In October 2008, Emily sent me pictures of the Faro Lighthouse on the island of Capri from her trip to Italy after she graduated from college. I had wanted to do something special for her graduation gift, as she is special to us. So, we agreed for me to paint her picture of the Faro Lighthouse for her gift.
I can not express the number of times I sat down to paint this for her. Yet, I continued to get sidetracked with the hurry! hurry! ding! ding! of several commissions, submissions to galleries, a new blog, Web site updates and just the day-to-day business of being an artist. (… all good things!)
Finally! I am posting the beginnings of this painting, to prove and to make a commitment to getting it completed… SOON!!!
Emily told me that she was struck by not only the lighthouse, but also the clouds and the color/effect of the clouds on the horizon. My hope is that I will be able to convey those feelings in this painting.
Thanks for being so understanding, Emily! Enjoy!
